Apartment Groots Onthaal in Den Bosch

We have been collecting all the best getaway venues: B&Bs, hotels and other places to stay. All great destinations for a weekend away or a bit longer. Here you get to sleep in the converted stables of a monumental farm in beautiful Brabant.

Special features
Here you get to sleep in the spacious renovated stables of a monumental farm, on a little winter dyke in Den Bosch. Perfect if you love nature and peace and quiet, but also still quite close to the city. A wonderful interior, mixing farmer’s simplicity with Oriental influences. Owner Joss de Groot has lived in Asia for years and brought back a gorgeous collection of various oriental objects. Your place to sleep for the night, for example, is an antique Chinese bed.

What’s for breakfast?
The big breakfast is a real feast. As many products as possible are sourced locally from the dyke, including honey, raspberry jam and the fresh eggs from the neighbor’s chickens, accompanied by a little Thai basket filled with hot rolls. The warm friendly kitchen looks out over the meadow.

Our tip
Straight from the farm you can walk to nature preserve the Heinis with its natural wielen (lakes created by dyke breaches) so that plenty of life is growing and flourishing here.

Good food
Restaurant D’n Boerderij (www.dnboerderij.nl) is also a mere walk away and serves good Dutch food, including good old-fashioned meatballs like oma (grandma) used to make. Zaher (www.zaher.nl) is an Afghan restaurant with very special dishes. The surprise menu is definitely something to try!

Good to know
Historical note: Napoleon’s soldiers stopped here to drink from the water pump by the stables!

Price per night for two starts at € 110, including breakfast. There is room for a family or two couples.
