Bij Ons In Groesbeek

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. At the campsite Bij Ons in Groesbeek you can stay in a striking hut, gypsy wagon, dome or tent, completely surrounded by nature.

What makes Bij Ons a great place to stay?
At Bij Ons, you get to enjoy Mother Nature in all her beauty as well as a cozy atmosphere. Located in Groesbeek in the eastern Netherlands, the campsite is completely surrounded by countryside and nature, which means you can wander straight off the site and onto farmer’s paths, and the children can build dams or catch fish. In addition to the spacious pitches, there are also several special dwellings, such as two tepees, a gypsy wagon, a shepherd’s hut, a robust hunter’s hut and a fully furnished dome. They’ve even got a wood-fired hot tub for anyone who cares to take a dip!

What’s on the menu?
Regular dinners are organized, where you can enjoy a cozy evening eating with the other campers at a long table. The meals served are potluck, but they could also be pizzas baked in the outdoor oven, served with some tasty Groesbeek wine. There’s a large campfire too, and after dinner some exciting games.

Our tip
The best thing you can do nearby is to take a bike ride through the vineyards, orchards and pastures with cows, sheep, horses and ponies. Then, enjoy a pit stop in the fairytale forest cafe Merlijn, just over the border in Germany, where you can sit on the terrace surrounded by chestnut trees. If you fancy going to Nijmegen, have a spot of lunch at Sid en Liv, which uses local organic produce from the region.

Prices vary according to lodging. A simple overnight camp with your own tent costs €19.50 per night for two people.
