De Stadsboerderij B&B

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. De Stadsboerderij B&B in Kampen is a rijksmonument with a special history.

What makes De Stadsboerderij a great place to stay?
Located in the old Hanseatic town of Kampen, De Stadsboerderij B&B is a beautiful rijksmonument (a national heritage site of the Netherlands) with a very special history, as the Linen Weaver’s Guild was once housed here. There are two guest rooms (including “The Laundry Room”), and two apartments (including “The Guilds’ House).” What’s also lovely is all the old bits and pieces dotted around, like an old-fashioned ticking alarm clock next to your bed or the old Aga cooker. In one of the apartments, there is also a hidden bedstead.

What’s for breakfast?
Breakfast in bed is a real celebration, as you’re served fresh croissants, Vienna rolls, fresh juice, a boiled egg, cheese, ham, sweet spreads, muesli, coffee or tea, and much more. If that sounds a bit too much, you can also opt for a simpler, smaller breakfast.

Our tip
The Stedelijk Museum Kampen tells the story of Kampen and you will find beautiful portraits of the House of Orange. And if you fancy good food, Kampen has recently become home to an authentic Indian restaurant called ‘Swagat’.

The Gildenhuisje (Guilds House) costs €90 per night (based on one or two guests), excluding breakfast. The large breakfast is €10 per person, and the smaller, simpler version is €10 per person. The Gildenhuisje and Linen Room can be interconnected to accommodate a party of up to four people.
