Het gekroonde visje

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Het Gekroonde Visje (The Crowned Fish) is a tastefully decorated city apartment in Utrecht, a city that is begging to be explored on the free bikes you can borrow from your hosts.

What makes Het Gekroonde Visje a great place to stay?
It really is a lovely ground-floor apartment in the city center, with its own kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, a king-size bed and a terrace. The interior is decorated with such great taste. You can borrow the bikes, free of charge, and explore Utrecht, but – thanks to its location – you can also easily do so by foot, as you’re only ten minutes away from the center.

What’s for breakfast?
Delicious warm rolls and croissants, boiled eggs, freshly-squeezed orange juice and a range of spreads, all served on a 1960s serving trolley. You can have a cozy breakfast for two at the table inside, or whilst soaking up the morning sun on the terrace.

Our tip
Head over to the museum district, with its trendy shops, lovely restaurants and monthly local market. The restaurant Blij is close by, where you can eat out on the terrace overlooking the Vecht.

The two-person apartment costs €95 per night, excluding breakfast. Breakfast is €7.50 per person.
