Hotel Hello I’m Local in Haarlem

We have been collecting all the best getaway venues: B&Bs, hotels and other places to stay. All great destinations for a weekend away or a bit longer. In Haarlem there is an adorable boutique hostel with twelve rooms all decorated in their own theme.

Special features
Hello I’m Local is a gorgeous boutique hostel in the centre of Haarlem. There are twelve rooms, each decorated with its own theme. Bring your whole family, friends or your partner; there is a room to match every taste. A group of girlfriends could stay at the Tante Leen (‘Auntie Leen’) room for example, which has eight beds, and the family room Klederdracht (‘folklore clothes’) has an indoors swing. For a romantic weekend you can book the authentic closet-bed (bedstede) big enough for two.

What’s for breakfast?
You can choose various breakfasts, € 4 to € 6.50. We can recommend the Local Dutch breakfast with hot rolls, a range of Dutch cheese and the delicious appelstroop (sweet apple spread). To cure getting up on the wrong side of the bed there is the blij-ei (‘happy egg’) breakfast, aka scrambled egg. The coffee is freshly ground.

Our tip
Just cross over the Spaarne canal and you can walk right into the Teylers Museum. The Frans Hals Museum is also just a short walk away. In the summer you can go to the city beach ‘De Oerkap’, also just a short walk away, and they serve the best pizzas!

Good food
A personal favorite is restaurant Specktakel (http://specktakel.nl), a world kitchen with creative dishes and a fabulous wine menu.

Price per night per person starts at € 30 excluding breakfast.
