Travel back to grandmother’s time in this farmhouse with 1950s interior design. Located in the middle of the green ponder of Midden-Delfland, without WiFi, internet or TV. After spending a day in the polder, have an old-fashioned good night’s sleep in the loft bedroom under a warm wool blanket in the winter and cool cotton sheets in the summer. The Herberg was inspired by the refugios one finds along the pilgrim’s route to Santiago de la Compostella. It copies the tradition of travelers sharing the sleeping space, so you may have the company of other guests during your stay here.
What’s for breakfast?
Hostess Mieke provides an organic farmer’s breakfast in the morning. Thick slices of bread fresh from the bakery, butter and cheese from the local dairy, jam from the neighborly jam maker and a cackling fresh egg from the ‘Levende Buitenplaats’ (the organic farm across from Op Hodenpijl).
Our tip
De Herberg is right next to Op Hodenpijl, which offers a wide range of activities, art exhibitions, and Sunday concert mornings for you to visit. On Wednesday evening workshops and lectures are held on themes such as personal development, nature and health.
Good food
The Indigo restaurant is a mere five minutes away, in Schipluiden. They prepare organic, local food, according to the seasons. The cooks work primarily with their own produce from their greenhouses, kitchen garden and stables. (www.indigo-uiteten.nl)

Hostess Mieke is also a professional masseuse and mani/pedicurist, so you can combine your stay here with a little mini spa treatment.
