Villa Ippocampi

We’re gathering the addresses of the best B&Bs, hotels and other overnight locations we can find. All of which, we feel, are great places to go for a weekend or a bit longer. Villa Ippocampi is a small hotel with a great deal of charm; a place where you’ll want to return to time and time again.

What makes Villa Ippocampi a great place to stay?
When you think of Greece, you probably think of white houses with blue shutters, tavernas with wooden chairs outside, and bougainvillea lining the roads. And Villa Ippocampi fits this idyllic Greek image 100 percent. But it also offers so much more. Wake up in a suite overlooking the sea, spend the day lazing by the pool, and enjoy the beautiful garden with citrus trees, herbs and fragrant roses. It’s a place where life meanders along, unconstrained by the day.

What’s for breakfast?
Start your day with a perfect cup of coffee or freshly squeezed juice. Breakfast is not included, but you can order what you want from the poolside bar: Greek yogurt with honey and fresh fruit, anyone?

Our tip
Rent a car for the day, and follow the coastal route further to the east of Crete. Lunch in Elounda, take the boat to Spinalounga, and drive through picturesque villages on your way back.

Good food
During the day, you can treat your taste buds to delicious Greek appetizers from Villa Ippocampi’s poolside bar. For evening meals, take advice from Nikos & Lydia, who will give you the best insider tips on the tastiest tavernas that are within walking distance.
