Puzzles as mindfulness exercise

puzzles

Aaaah, jigsaw puzzles. They draw you in, hold your attention and disconnect you from the outside world. And when completed, they reward you with a surge of satisfaction and lovely piece of art.

Plus, they also offer numerous cognitive benefits as the process of putting them together exercises both the left (logical) and right (creative and intuitive) sides of the brain. So what better excuse to get a puzzle (like these two by Brecht Vandenbroucke or Marcel George via Amazon, for example) and give those gray cells a good old workout?

At the office, we actually enjoy doing puzzles so much we created a special ‘puzzle corner’ (see photo above). This way, whenever we need a moment to unwind, we can retreat to the puzzle corner en clear our mind by only focusing on those little pieces.
