Special free little library

Free Little Libraries, or Mini Libraries, are popping up more and more all over the world.  Located, for example, outside a house or inside a communal building or coffee shop, they often come in the form of a little cabinet or bookshelf full of books that you can take away for free – and which you can also add to yourself.

The Mini Libraries are usually homemade: some people turn them into a real art form. Like Sharalee Armitage Howard, an artist from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, US, who turned a hundred-year-old, rotting tree into the most magical little library. “The tree had to be cut down,” says Howard, “so we decided to turn it into something that would benefit the whole neighborhood.”

  • We often write about books and everything book-related: you can find the articles here.
