New guest pinner: Nina Cosford

Our Friends of Flow Pinterest board was full of beautiful artwork, wonderful handicrafts and cheerful surprises in July. Thanks for being our guest pinner, weaver Maryanne Moodie! This month, British illustrator Nina Cosford is going to follow in her footsteps.

This summer, Nina is working on some illustrations for a book about Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. “It’s an era I’m really interested in and I’m enjoying the little spot pieces I’m making for it. I like working on historical projects as it often involves a lot of research and visual references for inspiration.”

Nina loves using Pinterest both in her free time and also while she works. “I find it super relaxing and inspiring to sit and scroll through a sea of images, and I collect a ginormous range of images: landscapes, color palettes, fashion styles, paintings, ceramics, film stills, interiors, antiques, doll houses, craft ideas and trinkets. The favorite board I’ve made is called ‘Merry Kitschmas’ as it is an explosion of all things festive and sparkly! I only really use it in the run-up to Christmas, but if I see something fitting throughout the year, I add it! It just makes me really happy looking through it.

“I find Pinterest refreshing and it allows me to slow down a bit and just use my eyes to look at things. It can be really helpful when I am feeling stuck or unmotivated, because it is purely visual, and it can spark off a whole load of new ideas in my head—different faces to draw, color combinations or interesting items of furniture or props I could maybe feature in my next drawing.”

What can we expect from you on Pinterest in August?
“During this month of guest pinning, I will be sharing some of my favorite pins which I’ve gathered over the past few years. It will be an eclectic assortment and will contain something for everyone I hope!”
